Saving and Budgeting Lessons
1. Save Before You Spend
Set aside part of what you receive before shopping. Even one marble can create another opportunity later.
2. Plan for Today and Tomorrow
A useful budget allows you to enjoy something now while still preparing for a future goal or surprise.
3. Needs, Wants and Goals
Ask whether an item is necessary, something you simply want, or part of a bigger goal. This helps you choose more carefully.
4. Expect the Unexpected
Sales, emergencies and special opportunities may appear without warning. Savings give you choices when they do.
5. Spending Is Not Bad
The aim is not to avoid spending. The aim is to spend with a plan and avoid using everything at once.
6. Review Your Decisions
After spending, check what you bought, what remains and what you would change. Reviewing a budget helps improve the next one.
7. Try the 50/30/20 Rule
Use about 50% for needs, 30% for wants and 20% for savings. It is a simple way to enjoy your money while still preparing for the future.
